Great sightings of the Southern Cassowary at Murray Falls

We have seen two of these majestic creatures in the rainforest surroundings of the falls over the last couple of weeks.  There is so much food around at the moment and it has been a very wet year so sightings haven't been very common (well I have only seen a few this year, I am not an expert and I do not have actual sighting numbers - more of an observation really) so it really is a big thrill to see one.  We really do live in the most beautiful part of the world!!! Jealous??????

Our Beautiful Murray Falls

A good friend of mine had her gorgeous daughter up for a visit this week and could not resist taking her to her old stomping ground.  We have had lots of rain recently and the falls is really flowing at the moment.  Just don't forget to call into the Murray Upper Store on your way for your cold drinks, hot food and most importantly MOZZIE SPRAY!!!

When you live in Paradise...anything can happen......

A couple of great mates (Chook and Lou) headed out for a day of fun off Mission Beach over the weekend and not only came across these turtles mating and actually got to lean out of the boat and pat them but........

they also stumbled across these feral piggies running along the beach just up from Mission Beach.

Next time you call into the Murray Upper Store I will give you directions.......:)

Another Glorious Day in Paradise....Probably not a bad day for a swim at Murray Falls!

We woke up this morning to the most beautiful clear blue skies over Murray Upper!  I thought it might be nice to show you the garden in front of the store.  Feel free to call in anytime for a delicious feed of fresh North Queensland fish and chips and sit and enjoy the gardens and our gorgeous view of the Great Dividing Range!  The store is open 7 days a week....can't wait to see you!

This is just one of the many fantastic shots of the waterfall at Murray Falls.  The falls are situated in the Girramay National Park whose traditional owners live close by.  The falls have a beautiful swimming area and a very popular and well maintained campground.  Even though we live in the Wet Tropics the weather at Murray Falls is always spectacular!
